10/14/08 – "Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The trip that I’ve been dreaming about (to visit NOLA) was a 100% magnificent reality. The Magnolia Mansion was the best part of our lengthy stay. You are so fortunate to have Lyndsey and Copper representing this beautiful home. Their advice . . . tours, restaurants, directions, etc. were invaluable. The Vampire’s Lair was so plush. We’ve never slept so well in our lives. After 19+ years of marriage, we were able to rediscover romance. To return every evening to this huge, gorgeous mansion bathed in soft light was such an honor . . . such a real-life fantasy comes true! This past week we learned so much about the history of New Orleans. What a rich legacy. We’ve also eaten our way through N’awlins . . . Commander’s Palace, Irene’s Cuisine, Emeril’s Delmonico, Arnaud’s, Café DuMonde beignets, Central Grocery muffaletta . . . dear God! We’ve toured plantations (Laura, Oak Alley), seen the devastation of Katrina (Lakeview, Gentilly, MRGO, lower 9th), explored the city of New Orleans (French Quarter, cemeteries, Garden District, etc., etc.) and we’ve fallen in love. So, it’s with some sadness that we say “goodbye.” However, I guarantee that we will return. And the ONLY place that I’d even consider staying is the Magnolia Mansion – the very best part (our personal favorite!). You have created a restful, peaceful respite at the end of a long day. An elegant, luxurious & decadent fantasy that actually “felt” like our very own home. You were awesome hosts and we shall miss you! And that’s the end of my essay . . . from the 2 English majors.
